1. Who we are
Fintrack is a personal finance tracking application that lets you record transactions, organize wallets and budgets, set savings goals, and consult an AI assistant about your own data. The service is operated from Argentina and is governed by Argentine Law No. 25,326 on the Protection of Personal Data (Ley de Protección de Datos Personales).
2. Definitions
- “Fintrack”, “we”, “us”, “our”: the Fintrack personal finance application and its operators, identified in Section 1.
- “The Service” or “the app”: the Fintrack application, website, and all features available through them.
- “User”, “you”, “your”: any natural person who registers an account and uses the Service.
- “Personal data”: any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person, as defined by Argentine Law No. 25,326.
- “Processing”: any operation performed on personal data, including collection, storage, use, disclosure, and deletion.
- “Private transaction”: a transaction marked as private by the User within the application. Private transactions are excluded from AI processing and from notification emails.
3. Data we collect
- Account data: your name, email address, and a hashed (bcrypt) password.
- Financial data you enter: wallets, transactions (amounts, dates, descriptions, categories, tags), budgets, automation rules, and savings goals.
- Preferences: display currency, language, and notification settings.
- Security metadata: failed-login records and rate-limit counters keyed by IP address and email, used solely to limit abuse; short-lived verification and password-reset tokens.
We do not connect to your bank and do not collect banking credentials. The spreadsheet import feature (Premium) parses files client-side in your browser; raw file contents are not transmitted to or stored on our servers.
4. How we use your data
We use your data exclusively to operate the Service: to authenticate you, store and display your financial information, send the email notifications you have enabled, and answer your questions through the AI assistant. We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.
5. Emails we send
Transactional (always active): account verification and password reset emails.
Notification emails (configurable from Settings): monthly summary, budget alerts, inactivity alerts, budget pace alerts, spending trend alerts, anomaly alerts, and savings goal reminders. You can enable or disable any of these at any time from Settings → Notifications.
6. Sharing of your data
We do not sell your data or share it with third parties for advertising purposes. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers: companies that help us operate the platform (hosting, infrastructure, technical support), bound by confidentiality and data processing agreements.
- Legal requirements: when required by law, court order, or a competent authority.
- Protection of rights: to prevent fraud, protect the security of the Service, or defend the rights of Fintrack or its users.
- Business restructuring: in the event of a merger or acquisition, users will be notified with reasonable advance notice, and data will remain subject to an equivalent or more protective privacy policy.
For details on how the AI assistant handles your data, see Section 7.
7. AI and your financial data
When you use the AI assistant or the AI-powered spreadsheet import, the minimum data needed to respond - such as recent transactions, categories, wallet balances, or the rows of a file you are importing - is sent to an AI model to generate a response. We do not use your data to train AI models.
Private transactions are never sent to the AI.Any transaction you mark as private is excluded at the data layer before any information reaches the model. However, because a wallet's balance is a factual aggregate of all its transactions, balance totals shown in AI responses may implicitly reflect private transactions even though their individual details are never disclosed. The AI is made aware when a wallet contains private transactions so it can be transparent with you about this.
8. Data retention and deletion
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. When you request account deletion from Settings → Delete account, your account enters a 30-day deactivation period: during this window your data remains stored and you can contact us at support@fintrack.app to cancel the deletion and reactivate your account. After 30 days, all your data (wallets, transactions, budgets, automation rules, goals, and related records) is permanently and irreversibly deleted. Short-lived security records (rate-limit counters, verification tokens) expire automatically.
9. Security
Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and never stored in plaintext. All connections use HTTPS. Access to your data requires authentication, and every request is scoped to your own account. We apply rate limiting to login, registration, and password-related actions to prevent abuse. Sessions are invalidated automatically after password or email changes.
10. Your rights (Law No. 25,326)
Under Argentine Law No. 25,326 you have the right to access, rectify, and delete the personal data we hold about you. You can edit your profile and export your transactions directly within the app. To exercise any other right or ask questions about your data, contact us at support@fintrack.app.
You also have the right to file a complaint with Argentina's Public Information Access Agency (Agencia de Acceso a la Información Pública - AAIP), the body responsible for overseeing data protection in Argentina.
11. Cookies
Fintrack uses a session cookie required for authentication only. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.
12. Minors
Fintrack is not intended for persons under 18 years of age. By creating an account you confirm that you meet this requirement.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. We will communicate material changes in advance. Continued use of Fintrack after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
